Course description
Catalog
description: Differentiation and integration
techniques and their applications (area, volumes, work), improper
integrals, approximate integration, analytic geometry, vectors,
infinite series, power series, Taylor series, computer algebra (Maple).
Prerequisite: MATH 151 or equivalent. Credit will not be given for both
MATH 152 and 172.
The course meets
for three hours per week in lecture with your instructor
and twice per week in recitation with your teaching
assistant (TA).
One of your recitation meetings is designed to discuss
questions over homework or lecture. The other recitation meets
in the computer laboratory using
the computer package Maple.
The goal of the computer laboratory portion of the course is to show
how problems that are too difficult to solve
by hand, can be solved with the help of the computer.
This is the honors version of the
standard second semester engineering calculus course descirbed above,
which means that we will study the material more in depth, and if time
allows cover somewhat more material than the regular course.
